Upvasachya Bhajaniche Thalipeeth are the ritual fasting kosher version of the classic breakfast pancakes. The dough is made from sago pearls, amaranth flour, samo rice, powdered red chillies and turmeric along with some rock salt, carom and sesame seeds as flavour-enhancers. The dough is flattened into the shape of pancakes using either cooked, grated or mashed potatoes for binding onto a large frying pan and then cooked on a medium flame using oil. These pancakes can be served with green chutney.
