Thalipeeth is a highly nutritious breakfast heavyweight that utilizes a whole range of mixed roasted flours (of rice, wheat, sorghum, pearl millets, green and black gram, etc.) called thalipeeth bhajani, as well as some ground and roasted spices as its flavour base. Served with fresh white butter, ghee (clarified butter) or yoghurt, it is considered a fulsome meal. Variations of the thalipeeth abound and it can even be consumed during ritual fasts by substituting the regular base flours with those made of tapioca and amaranth.
