रावण पिठलं / Ravan Pithala

Ravan Pithle is one of those traditional quick fix meals that one remembers when guests show up unannounced or when a meal is warranted with a bare produce shelf. It is a thick gravy of chickpea flour with the flavors coming from sautéed onions, garlic, green coriander, chilli powder and even freshly grated coconut with a tempering of cumin seeds, mustard seeds and asafoetida. Served hot with either steamed rice or with rice bhakri (unleavened flat bread).
