Naralachya Vadya are slices of a confection prepared using soft, freshly grated coconut, a sweetener of choice, chopped mixed nuts and clarified butter. Some versions of this recipe call for the use of khoya (thickened milk solids). After the ingredients are slow-cooked in a non-stick vessel until a thick mixture is formed, the contents are flattened onto a high sided plate and allowed to cool. It is considered tradition to prepare Naralachya Vadya during Narali Pournima.
