Nagpuri Wade Bhat is a special mildly-spiced steamed rice preparation that is paired with some ground lentil fritters. As the name suggests, this dish traces its origin to the city of Nagpur. First, a bed of steamed rice is served followed by the lentil fritters which are to be crushed by hand and placed in the middle of the rice. Next, some asafoetida-flavoured water is poured over the rice and fritters, followed by a tempering of spices. Nagpuri Wade Bhat is a delectably spiced dish that has a simple yet divine taste, especially when paired with a red chilli thecha and some buttermilk.
