Katachi Aamti is a soupy curry that is prepared using the stock leftover from cooking split Bengal gram, jaggery, tamarind paste, oil and a variety of whole and powdered spices. The kat is flavoured with cloves, peppercorns, bay and curry leaves, mustard and cumin seeds, goda masala (blended mix of aromatic spices) and some salt. Katachi Aamti is commonly consumed with Puran Poli (stuffed sweet flatbread) or steamed rice.
