Gulgule are deep-fried fluffy sweet balls made of whole wheat flour, sweetener of choice and fennel seeds that have a crispy golden-brown cover and are soft on the inside. Some ripe bananas and cardamom powder can be added to the sweet-snacks preparation for warm, fruity flavours and a smooth texture. Gulgule is commonly served with masala chai (milk-based spiced Indian tea).
